Running a barn means paperwork. Every new boarder needs a boarding contract. Every rider needs a liability waiver. Camp weeks demand parent consent, medical info, photo releases. And the moment someone actually gets hurt or a payment dispute lands, you need to find that signed form — fast.

Printing and hoping people bring it back. Emailing PDFs and chasing signatures. Photocopying and stashing in a folder. Or, worst case, no signed form at all. Every one of these leaks time, gets messy, and leaves gaps.

Three steps. That’s the whole thing.

Set up a template once. Send it in seconds after that.

Step 1

Pick a template

Eight professionally-drafted starting points covering the situations barns face most. Duplicate one to make it yours.

Step 2

Customize it

Edit the text, add your own fields — name, horse, emergency contact, dropdowns, whatever you need — and match your barn’s voice.

Step 3

Send the link

From any customer’s profile, tap Send Form. Text or email them the link. They sign on their phone. Signed copy saves to their profile with a timestamp.

Every form a barn actually needs, ready to go.

Use them as-is, or duplicate and rewrite them in your own voice. Every field is editable.

General Liability Release & Assumption of Risk

Waiver

The foundational waiver for adult riders. Release, assumption of risk, and indemnity in plain, enforceable language.

Minor’s Liability Release with Parent/Guardian Consent

Consent

Waiver plus a parent signature block plus medical authorization. Everything you need before a kid gets on a horse.

Boarding Contract

Agreement

Monthly terms, feed, farrier and vet authorization, notice period. The document every new boarder needs before their horse arrives.

Lesson Program Agreement

Agreement

Packages, cancellation policy, expiration. Clear terms up front means fewer awkward conversations later.

Summer Camp Registration & Waiver

Waiver

Enrollment plus waiver plus medical info plus pickup authorization plus photo release — all in one form. Parents sign once.

Trail Ride Waiver

Waiver

Short and focused, for one-off guest riders. Long enough to protect you, short enough to actually get signed at the trailer.

Clinic / Event Waiver

Waiver

For the day-clinic or show you’re hosting on your property. Send the link with the registration email, done.

Photo / Video Release

Media release

Separate consent for using images in marketing. Ask once, use forever.

Your customer taps the link. They sign. That’s it.

No account. No app to download. The link opens in whatever browser they already use, on whatever device is closest. Read the terms, fill in the fields, draw a signature with a finger or a mouse, tap Sign & submit.

You get an instant notification. The signed copy — with a timestamp, their signature image, and every field they filled — saves straight to their customer profile. Even if you later edit the template, the version they signed stays exactly as it was.

Built for barns, not law offices.

Rich text editing

Bold, italic, bullet lists, links. Format your form the way you’d write it — not the way a legal PDF template forces you to.

Custom fields

Text boxes, checkboxes, date pickers, dropdowns, signature blocks, initials. Reorder them however you want.

Digital signature

Draw with a finger on mobile or a mouse on desktop. Saved as an image alongside the exact text they agreed to.

Public signing link

No account required for the person signing. They get a link, they sign, done. Grandma can sign for the grandkid’s trail ride.

Archived to the customer

Every signed form lives on the customer’s profile with the exact language they agreed to. Later edits to the template don’t rewrite history.

Sign anywhere

Works on phone, tablet, laptop. Nothing to install, no plugin, no PDF app. Whatever they have in their pocket is enough.

Templates are a strong starting point. Not a substitute for an attorney.

Any barn that hands people paperwork.

Boarding barns

Boarding contracts on day one, liability waivers before anyone rides, photo releases before you post their horse on Instagram.

Lesson programs

Program agreements, cancellation policies, and waivers — signed on the parent’s phone in the parking lot before the first lesson.

Summer camps

One form. Enrollment, waiver, medical info, pickup authorization, photo release. Signed by the parent before drop-off week.

Trail-ride outfits

Short, focused waivers for guest riders. Text the link. They sign at the trailer. You keep riding on schedule.

Clinic & event hosts

Everyone who steps on your property for a day clinic or show gets a link with their confirmation email. Signed before they arrive.

Frequently asked questions

Do my customers need a Proper Strides account to sign?

No. The signing link opens in any web browser on any phone. No account, no app, no sign-up. You send them a link; they tap it and sign.

Are digital signatures legally binding?

Electronic signatures are recognized under the federal E-SIGN Act and the state-level UETA in nearly every U.S. state. That said, whether a specific waiver is enforceable depends on your state’s equine liability law, the exact language of the waiver, and how it was signed. Our templates are strong starting points; have an attorney in your state review them before you rely on them for high-stakes situations.

What happens if I edit a template after someone signed it?

Their signed copy stays exactly as it was when they signed. We snapshot the language and the fields at signing time. Editing the template only affects future sends.

Can I add my own fields?

Yes. Text boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, date pickers, initials, additional signatures — add them, name them, mark them required, reorder them.

Can I write my own template from scratch?

Yes. The 8 starter templates are optional. Start from a blank form, paste in language your attorney gave you, and add the fields you need.

How do I send a form to a customer?

From their customer profile, tap Send Form and pick a template. You get a link to copy. Text it, email it, put it in a QR code — however you want to get it in front of them. When they sign, the signed copy saves to their profile automatically.

Where do signed forms live?

On the customer’s profile, alongside their invoices, their horses, and everything else you know about them. When you need to prove a specific person signed a specific document on a specific day, it’s one click away.

What plan do I need?

Forms & Waivers is included with the Plus plan. Free and Core plans don’t include it — upgrade any time to turn it on.
